Default Judgement in NY from arbitrator(small claims)

I got a default judgement due to missing my date in court and I now live in Florida. The guy I owe money to says that he will have the sheriff come to my house to collect. Is that accurate? Can one transfer a claim to another state, and shouldn't I get a notice? Also would I have the opportunity to fight him in court if he attempts to transfer the claim?

The judgment holder will have to domesticate the judgment before he can attempt collection activity in your state.
