giving money and no agreement made

I am being sued for money my ex received for remodel of the house we owned and lived in. They, my ex and ex in laws, have sadi they never talked about the "gift/loan" with me and that I knew nothing about when and how much they were giving my ex wife for the house. Now that we are divorced and the house was sold..the ex inlaws want money from me for the money they gave their daughter. There is no formal agreement signed or verball agreed by me, however my ex might have.
