We are breaking a contract with a custom homebuilder who has not been able to do the job with the quality that we demand. There was no exit policy in the contract. Briefly, the concrete walls for our basement were poured in such a way that they are not structurally sound. Thus, we have been working with an attorney for several months to try and get out of the contract by paying the least amount possible. We want to continue building with another company. Anyway, our lawyer told them to send us a list of the bills. They said that they would get back to us within a few days. That was 2 weeks ago. This is typical of them, as they have been very slow for every step of the process. Our lawyer is running up our bill trying repeatedly to get in touch with them. They keep stalling, I guess to get even with us. Is there anything that we can do to force them to respond more quickly?
