What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY
I live in New York, and have just been mailed an information subpoena. Can I still try to negotiate a settlement with the creditor? In reading it through it appears that if I do not fill it out and send it back that ultimately I can go to jail for contempt. What happened to there being no more debtors prison? Also will filing for bankruptcy help me out of this problem?
