What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York, Commercial Division

An inquest has been scheduled for a pending motion for default judgement. The order neither grants/nor denies the motion

I am not sure if this is standard for the Judge to simply set up an Inquest but neither grant or deny the motion

Will the judge ask questions related to the broader case or simply the pending motion ? How do I prepare ?

What can I expect at the Inquest ?
