What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Missouri

Following an order of " HAS PURGED HIS CONTEMPT" the pet. attorney filed "MOTION FOR ATTORNEY'S FEES, COSTS, AND POST-JUDGMENT INTEREST". A hearing date was never put on the docket and the only idea we had of the motion was a copy sent in regular mail with no letter or note from the filing atty.
Twelve days later we received a copy of PET MOTION FOR ATTORNEY'S FEES, COST AND POST-JUDGMENT INTEREST IS SUSTAINED.
How does this happen? We had no chance to respond as the atty we contacted to file our answer said we were not given proper notice?
