Neighbor is threatening my well being

What is the name of your state? Washington State.

My neighbors father purchased the house he lives in so the neighbor doesn't actually own the property. Shortly after he moved in we had problems with his cat using the front of our motorhome as a cat box. We raise purebred dogs and are concerned about Parvo.

We had a shop build along side his house and the contractor did all the paperwork and permits.

The first thing my husband did was start insulating so the noise wouldn't bother him. This was 9:30 AM and the neighbor went outside and threw an 18" pc of 2x4 at the shop and put a dent in one of the panels. My husband confronted him with it and he apologized and said his 10 year old son did it.

The neighbor also has a Chow dog and for some reason the dog hates me. He is constanting encouraging that dog to come after me. We have a 4 ft fence and I know that dog can get over. He just hasn't figured it out yet.

We finially got a cat trap and I guess we caught one of 4 wild cats he has over there. He took a sledge hammer to it and then bashed it up against the front of the shop and threw it down on the driveway. I saw him do the throwing down of the cage, I didn't know he bashed t hes hop again. When confronted he began telling me I'd better sleep lightly and called me a "spic bitch" Finially after 3 calls to 911 the police finally arrived. They ended up arresting him because he said he would do it again if we ever caught his cat again.

Three days later, today..the building inspector shows up because the neighbors father called and said our building was to close to the road. My husband and the inspector were in the back yard measuring when the father walks over to the inspectors car. I said to the man that everything is checking out good and it was! He started yelling at me and walking up our driveway. I told him he was trespassing and to get off of our property. By this time he has his toes almost on the cement standing in the gravel my husband poored on OUR PROPERTY!! I called for my husband and the guy was egging me on and yelling what you gonna do hit me hit me. I threw my water on him and he called 911. I didn't get arrested. He was on my property and made a real ass out of himself in front of the police.

To find out the shop is 8 inches too close to the road. I guess I have two questions: How can I stop this neighbor from constantly retailiating, harassing me, poisoning my dogs and never coming on my property again?. Also is the Father legally responsible for damages as the actual home owner? I am really afraid of these people with their mentality.

Next question is; are they going to make us movve our shop back 8 inches?

I am chronically ill and this kind of stress reallly puts me in severe pain and anxiety.

My fault shouldn't of said anything and shouldn't of bottle watered him.

Go to your local courthouse and get a restraining order. Some counties call them personal protection orders. In King County where I live, it is a 15 minute process and they have an office just for the purpose.

Not likely. You and your husband can go to the county building department and request a variance to the code, it is done quite often. If the shop was built using a building permit, you may already have one or this will be your proof that the existing location was previously acceptable to the building inspector.
