Pennsylvania - Harssment Restraining Order

Hello all.

Recently my ex has been harassing me quite badly. He calls me on 'witheld' (blocked) numbers and texts me from his cell phone on a regular basis and refuses to stop. I asked him time and time again to leave me alone and he says he doesn't feel like it. Then, he'll randomly appear at my house in the early hours of the morning (1 am, 2 am etc.) and refuse to leave.

I need something done about this immediately. I'm going to contact my cell phone company and get my number changed, but I also need to find a way to keep him away from me, so I want to get a restraining order. Who do I need to contact to get one? What evidence do I need to provide?

Help is greatly appreciated.

Contact your phone company. It may be possible to stop caller ID-blocked numbers from ringing your phone. In the meantime, keep a log of his calls.

The next time that he arrives at 1 or 2 am call the police. This harassment has gone on because you let it.

If you cannot afford a lawyer, see if legal aid can help you get started on the restraining order process.

No, he was just someone I dated for a few months.

Since we broke things off (way back in November of 2008) he hasn't stopped. For the longest time I just ignored it and let it slide.

Can you say STALKER???

I cannot believe you have allowed this to continue for almost a year now! And you DID allow it by not taking action sooner.

Next time this guy comes to your house (and the next, and the next, and so on...) CALL the police. IMMEDIATELY. They will be happy to escort him off the property for you. If they have to do it enough, they might even arrest him for trespassing. But to do this, you have to stop giving him permission to even set foot on the premises!!!
