I live in Kentucky and for a year now have been paying on a lease agreement for furniture, etc. Unfortunately we fell onto some hard times and couldn't make our payments. We have already paid over $2,000 on the stuff which I know isn't an excuse but now they are hounding us. Sending threatening letters and sitting down the street from my house to watch us if we leave or not. My question is, is this a punishable offense as in jail time or what happens in a case like this.

Have you offered to return the goods?

What do you expect to happen? Keep the goods without paying? Start paying again? What have you arranged with the creditor?
