Slander

What is the name of your state? Florida

My father's brother was married to a lady whose daughter accused me of having sexual relations with her when I was under 18. This never occured. Things went into an uproar and finally settled down and nothing has been said for many years. Recently my father's brother who greatly dislikes me began circulating rumors that I had been sexually involved with this girl and that they are getting a restraining order aginst me. I do not care about his ignorant coments with one exception; I am now in a high medical profession that is liscensed by the state. I am a moral, upstanding, and law abiding citizen with absolutely NO record whatsoever. Such accusations could damage my career and reputation. I do not live anywhere near them, but I am concerned in todays legal environment. I have had NO contact with either my father's brother or this girl for several years.

1. Regarding initial accusations, no charges were ever filed. Could they be brought back again now years later even though I was under 18 at the time of the said accusations?

2. What should I do about current slander and defamation of character?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Q1) "Regarding initial accusations, no charges were ever filed. Could they be brought back again now years later even though I was under 18 at the time of the said accusations?"
A1) I doubt that charges could be brought at this late date. Most statute of limiatation 'clocks' start at the time of the occurence, or at the time of knowledge of the occurence. Though you don't give specific dates, I assume that both of these have past.

Q2) "What should I do about current slander and defamation of character?"
A2) From your post, you haven't been defamed.....yet. I would suggest you have an attorney draw up a letter advising them to 'cease and desist' further possible defamation or that you could consider taking legal action against them.

There are at least 17 lawsuits (!!) filed in various courts, including the US Supreme Court, asking if Obama is a natural born citizen (as req'd by Art II, Sec 1 of the US Constitution).

Why has he spent over $1.7M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!
