my father needs to sue his attorney for negligence. are there statute of limitations on filing a suit?

yelta, there's actually a link for the south carolina code, i have a similiar situation where i need to sue an ex spouse, mobile home lender and notary public. i remember seeing in the statutes regarding a civil case being 3 years or three years from when the person found out about the incident.
