What is the name of your state? Mass.

I'm a student in Boston, and every day on my way to school I have to walk past a disgusting sex/porn type store that displays all sorts of vulgar toys and whatnot in their window; dildos, pictures of naked men and women, vibrators, things-I-dont-understand - very disgusting stuff. And what I find most shocking is that this is on Mass Ave in the Back Bay (rich, upscale area), and right across from respected restaurants. I'm surprised that this store is allowed to display such indecent filth right in view of the public.

Do I have any sort of grounds to complain about this store and ask that they remove these displays from their window? Surely there is some kind of "decency law"? I have no doubt that if I were to tape pictures of naked men to my windows so that all the neighbors could see, a police officer would come knocking on my door and tell me to remove them. Is it the same for this store?

Anyone know? And who would I go about filing a complaint to?

cross the street and walk.

The store is protected by the same 1St Amendment rights as you have.

That makes no sense to me. Like I said, if I were to tape pornographic pictures to my windows so that all the neighbors could see, I'm sure the police would come tell me to take them down. And if being able to publicly display pornographic pictures and paraphernalia is covered under the 1st Amendment how come they aren't allowed to show it on television?

This just seems like common friggin' sense to me. There has to be some sort of decency law that prohibits people from displaying pornographic pictures in view of everyone.

And of course, you know exactly what phornographic images are to the population as a whole right?

You are specifically qualified to judge what is defined as phornography, right?

Lady, you're acting like a two year-old. If you feel that strongly about it, call Jerry Falwell or run for the U.S. Supreme Court.

Am I specifically qualified to judge what is defined as pornography? No, maybe not - but Websters dictionary is surely qualified to define what the meaning of a word like pornography is.

"Material that depicts erotic behavior and is intended to cause sexual excitement"

We're not talking classy Art here - we're talking pictures of naked women with strap on dildos, fully nude naked men - and something, for the life of me, I have no idea what possible use it could have: plastic testicles.

I remember in the first or second grade when kids would start to have epiphanies that they didn't "haaaaavvveeeeee to do something" and that America was a "free country" so they could do "whatever they want." I remember one of my aunts telling me that I "had" to come inside, and I would say, "nuhh uhh - I don't haaaavvveeeeee to. I can if I want to, but I don't haaaavveeee to."

It seems to me that a lot of people like yourself never grow out of that stage.

And "freedom loving" liberals still have no idea why most of America regards their party as one populated with immoral sodomites.

I'm sure some of the members here will be happy to explain precisely what each item that "you don't understand" is if you list them.

Fine.

I should have expected this. The mass media is shoving sex down our throats left and right nowadays. Just look at the lesbianism fad thats sweeping teenage girls right now, I hear probably 40% of all teenage girls are at least bisexual - 75% of all internet users regularly look up pornography, no doubt the great majority of them young boys. And then the immoral ACLU type liberals have convinced simpletons like those in this thread that any resistence to this modern Sodom we're turning into is a VIOLATION OF OUR RIGHTS!!! And all of the mindless, sex crazed sheep blindly follow them, protecting their "rights" to turn into sub-humans.

"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."

The problem of our modern age is that most people only regard cruelty as a sin. Was Hitler evil? "Oh yea! Certainly!" everyone will say. Are the greedy people who work in the adult industry and corrupt our youth just to make money evil? 'NO WAY!!! F@#$ YOU, YOU DAMN FUNDAMENTALIST! GO BURN SOME BOOKS YOU JUDGEMENTAL JACKASS!!"

Jesus said it would be better for those who lead the young into sin on the day of judgement if they were never even born. He also says in the Parable of the Talents that those who sit by and do nothing are equally to blame.

Thank you for the link, matti, I will read it later today.

Goodbye.

Belize, I mean this with all sincerity; you're obviously very immature and unintelligent. First, I'm not a girl. Sorry. I see how much it was exciting you to insult a "lady". :( Perhaps you should see a psychologist to work through these problems with your mother?

Secondly, since when was F@#$ a bad word? Perhaps if you were a more intelligent person and didn't spend so much time surfing the internet and defending your right to run your life-without-morals into the ground you might make the point that publically saying F@#$ might offend some people, just as I'm saying that publically displaying pornography might. But since you didn't, I won't respond that hinting at pornography is fine and acceptable, just like hinting at a curse word is - but displaying it unrestrained is not. We all know that walking around completely naked is against the law. So why would displaying pictures of naked people in public be any different?

No one here has yet addressed what I said about if I were to tape pornographic pictures to my windows the neighbors would certainly call the police and they would certainly tell me to take them down. Right??? (No doubt Belize will respond with something equally as off topic and moronic to this post with something like: "huk huk so is that why ur posting this? u wunt to put porno on ur windows and dont no if its legal? huk huk"

Why is it any different for a business than a residence?
