What is the name of your state? Kansas
This is regarding a State of Oklahoma certificate of title for a vehicle. This title was in a single persons name, but another person had possession of the vehicle. In Kansas the person with the title went to police and and wanted to get the vehicle back (they were mad, being spiteful). Well, instead of getting the vehicle back she signed the title over to the person whom had possession of the vehicle. This was done in front of a police officer but was not notarized at the time. A police report is on file stating the title being signed over to the person in possession of the vehicle for new ownership. Now he is not able to get the title transfered because it was not signed in front of a notary. Question: Isn't a public official (police officer) witnessing the signature and a police report stating the incident record enough that this was a legal signature and transaction? Is there a certain length of time for a title to be transfered to new owner, and a new title issued for it to be vaild? Short of having this person resign the title in front of a notary, what can be done to obtain ownership of this vehicle? Thank you for your help! Jane
