What is this ?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York State

Hi,

I received an email, with a "jpg"-type attachment, that reads the following...

DEFENDANT...

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the defendants hereby demand, pursuant to CPLR 3012 (b), that you serve a copy of the complaint upon the undersigned within 20 days after service of the demand upon you, at the office and post office address stated below. This demand does not constitute an appearance by the defendants and is intended to preserve all of the defendant's rights, defenses, and objections in this action. In the event that you fail to respond hereto, a motion may be made to dismiss the action.

dated New York, New York

October 28, 2009

1. THERE IS NO NAME on this document; My Name is NOT on this document.

2. There is NO NAME for "Defendant" on this document.

3. There is no name of , "where", this motion was filed, or by "WHO".

4. There is NO stamp, that may indicate this document was filed in any court.

I "googled" the name of the person who emailed this, and it's someone who is a "site administrator", for an ethnic group, at a local university.

It doesn't appear that he is a lawyer. The email address indicates it's from a university email server.

What is this ?

Is this a legal document ?

Is it a service of a summons, of some kind ?

Should I be worried, and get legal representation ?

Is it meant to intimidate me, somehow ???

Thanks for ANY information on what this is .

Yours, Mike
