Also, it might be helpful not only to have the fact that this was in Gila, AZ, but when you were arrested and for what, and when were you finally able to make a call or released? The details can be relevant as there are time frames involved as well as other legal issues which may allow them to restrict your calls.

And contrary to what you know from TV, there's no "right to a phone call." You have the right when in custody to call an attorney before questioning, and there are statutory times to come up in front of a judge where you are also permitted to have representation.
