Expectation of privacy with police departmentWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York Forgive me if I have posted this in the incorrect forum. My wife and I do not typically fight however last weekend we got into a heated argument. Our neighbor called the Police and they responded as if it was a domestic dispute. Two officers arrived and things calmed down very quickly. Lets call the two officers that responded A and B. Either officer A or B notified officer C who is my wifes X-Husband. All the officers are in the same department. Her X then notified family members of the dispute and many of them have come to us asking if things are okay. My wife and I both feel that our privacy was violated by the police department and are wondering if there is any legal actions we can take against the department. Respectfully submitted, Kevin |

No laws were violated. Get over it. How do you know that either officer told anyone?? There is NO expectation of privacy when your conduct causes it to be 'announced' over the police radio. Ever been to Radio Shack?? You can buy a scanner and listen to all the police calls you want (assuming your local agency isn't on MDT's.).

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport! |

| Jetx. Thanks for being so condescending. Neither of us are losing any sleep over this. When her x-husband admitted that one of the responding officers told him it makes things a little different from hearing something over the scanner that I did not buy at Radio Shack (prices are too high). Perhaps I should ask this. Can anybody obtain a copy of a police report about anybody else? If they can then hey no foul was done. If they can't the details about the domestic that my wife's x-husband knows about could only have been obtained from another officer acting unprofessional. But hey we all know just because some people have a badge doesn't mean they deserve it. Last edited by neokrelic; 10-20-2009 at 10:56 AM. |
