What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Oregon

A woman who works in medical billing at the doctor I see told the person that I am dating that she saw me at the office. I am afraid (since she has access to my files obviously and the fact that she is an ex-girlfriend of his) that she will disclose some private things in my chart to him. I have never spoken to this woman and had no idea who she was until the man I am seeing mentioned that she said she "met" me when I was in for my last appt. I didn't even know how she got my name and the man I am dating said she must have went through his phone.


She isn't even allowed to disclose that I am a patient at the facility right? What should I do? I am so paranoid about her going through my private information and sharing my medical information with him.

Saying she saw you at the office does not NECESSARILY mean she confirmed you were a patient....fine line, I know. At this time, it's unclear whether a violation has taken place. But you can certainly call the office and talk to her boss about your concerns.
