I'm about to purchase commercial liability insurance. The insurance company wants me to sign an Appointment of Broker and Special Power of Attorney document. Is this needed? I spoke with someone else who had this type of insurance and they don't recall signing such an document.

I'm in CA.

Thanks,

Jon

The details are fuzzy in my mind, but your agent needs this because the insurance company that he's using is not admitted (I cannot, for the life of me think of the word) in your state. The company is licensed in other states, but only does surplus lines in yours. Something like that.

The power of atty is no biggie. That has to do with the insurance company.
