We rent two commercial offices next to each other. We plan to open a door to connect the two offices. But we were told that it might cause problem with the insurance claim in case there is a fire in the future. Can someone explain in more details what the possible effects will be? Thank you.

Don't you think asking your broker this question would net you more accurate results? But off the top of my head, I'd guess it's because there's a price difference in the premiums for fire insurance for one business as opposed to two businesses.
