Do I need a lawyer???

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
I live in NV but case is in NC. I was involved in a MVA while driving a dump truck loaded with asphalt, due to mechanical faliure I ran a red light and was sited for running a red light. I T-boned two cars totaling both with no serious bodily injuries inflicted. I went to the police station and paid the waiver for the red light violation. The hitch now is that niether my employer or the vehicle owner carried insurance on the truck. There is now a hold on my licence for faliure to carry insurance. My question is, as a driver for hire, in a truck I did not own, am I responsible for carring insurance?
