Being harassed both on the net and at home

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Michigan

A few months ago on a website that I frequent a "friend" of mine took something personally that was posted on a general debate forum. She and a friend of hers have since tried making my life miserable. One of these individuals gave out my name, address, phone number, email address and photos of myself and my family to her other friends (this was someone I'd known a LONG time and trusted) . They have since used this information to harass me in emails from a fake address (but the IP address was traced and a punishment issued by the site host), they send me threats and curse at me in Yahoo Instant Messenger, and most recently hacked my email account so I couldn't get back into it (I contact the company and got a new username and had security placed on my account) but they also took the names and addresses of my family out and are now sending my family harassing emails and messages too. We've been getting crank phone calls EVERY day and night, sometimes several times each day where they just call and hang up (we have caller ID, it says BLOCKED CALL) . They live in Arkansas and California and I'm wondering if this behavior constitues Internet Harassment and what I can do about it? We've filed a police report regarding the phone calls but would like to do more about the Internet harassment if possible as well. Any input would be great!

It is a federal crime, report it to the FBI, call your local law enforcement and ask if they have an internet fraud unit, get a restraining order these can cover internet, report everything, document everything. This can be very scary, I had it happen to me and it is difficult to get any help. Try local tv station if they have consumer sections.

If you use IM services go in invisble mode and don't have them go on automatically.
