Domain name problems

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Not in US

We are over in the UK, however we came across this forum first online.

The problem we have is that we are a school with a domain name of www.londonshoolofosteopathy.com, recently though the domain expired and after a month or so a new registrar company picked up the domain and sold it to some Japanese business.

Luckily we have another domain name Welcome to The London School of Osteopathy - accredited by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC), but I am wondering why a Japanese company would use such a domain?

We looked at their site and its nothing to do with osteopathy and the company does not seem to be a school? We would like the domain back or ask the company not to use the domain.

What should we do?

Thanks

That's a squatter. WHat they do is snap up expired domains and "park" them (often at porn sites or sites full of ad referrals) hoping you'll come and try to buy them back.

I had to wait for over 4 years and two other squatters until I got one of mine back do to the same exact situation. I ignored the expiration notice which was bad of me. I was EXTREMELY thrilled when I won it back in a URL bidding forum for 65 us dollars. The squaters wanted over 1000 us dollars.
