Online Competitions?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CO

I will be running an online gaming competition soon which involves the winner of the tournament receiving prizes. The prizes will include a ticket to an event

My main concern is the free ticket to the event. It may seem like an ignorant question, but since I am luring people in with the tickets do I have to receive permission from the promoters of the event.

I understand if I was making profit or not would make a difference. If people were to pay an entrance fee, how does that change things?

Also, if there are any other legal issues I should be aware of, such as a tournament disclaimer or writeup, could you let me know.
