North Carolina. I recently played an online casino. They had a demo version and a money version. I played what I thought was a demo version only to have my credit card company call me the next day to confirm charges of over $1,500 to my card. I never intended to play with real money. I contacted the site and have exchanged several e-mails with the head of their security. He offered to waive half of the money played. He sent an e-mail with an affidavit for me to copy and fax to them stating I gambled in good faith. Once I do this he says he will waive half the charges. It was a stupid mistake, but I don't see why I should pay anything. Also what if I send the affidavit and he doesn't waive the half? Should I dispute the charges with my credit card company? Can this online casino sue me if I dispute and try not to pay? I don't know what to do.

you think you played the demo? Sounds like you goofed. Take that settlement offer unless you know for sure you played the right one or you can show the credit card company how confusing it is.

1) I bet you wouldn't have had a problem accepting the money if you had won!!

AND

2) Your consideration of disputing the charge with your credit card company won't work. The 'right' you are claiming is covered by the FCBA (Fair Credit Billing Act) and only applies to 'billing errors', and it sounds like yours doesn't qualify.
