someone logged into her emailWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? TX Susan gave her ex husband her email and facebook password. April, the ex husband's new wife, logs her in and reads her mail. Nothing more. Susan suspects someone logged her in, so she points the finger at April and threatens to take legal action against her. Facebook and Yahoo need a supena to release any information such as an IP address that had logged her in. Can Susan obtain this information? If Susan had a history of harrassing the ex husband through work email, was bi-polar and a history of dramatic actions, would April have a good counter case? How far would Susan be able to go to bring April to court and with what measures? If April was guilty, what could happen to her? |

| If she files a lawsuit, she can subpoena this information. If criminal charges are brought the lawyers involved can likewise do so. Otherwise she has no legal right to it. But under what grounds does she have to sue anybody? I won't worry about the possibilities unless that happens. Threatening legal action is cheap. Even lawyers do it.

| Change password then stop the drama. If all she did was look and didn't damage anything or steal info that could cause harm then a slap on the wrist is about all she would get. Best bet is to stop all contact. |

| Frankly, she admits to giving out the information and she couldn't PROVE who actually accessed the account anyway (maybe it was the ex that accessed it...) I agree - change the pw and move on

| Let's say Susan keeps emailing the ex husband with legal threats and accusations against April. What can April and her husband do? If it continues can they file a grievance or harrassment? How about a restraining order? Susan has a history of emailing the ex husband, at work, every few months with love letters, cries for help or some reason to contact him. although she has been told numberous times to stop. |
