| Condo Assigned Parking situation What is the name of your state? NJ
We own a condo in a new condo community, and for the past several months we have had problems with some neighbors regarding our assigned parking spot. Each unit is given an assigned parking spot close to your home, and you also get a visitor spot (not assigned, you just need to park in an unmarked spot). Needless to say, parking is very tight here.
For the past several months one family has repeatedly parked in our assigned spot. In the beginning we let it go, but after a month we decided to start leaving polite messages on their windshields saying that that was an assigned spot and to not park there. Mind you, they also have 4 cars for their 2 bedroom condo, so they make the parking here difficult. When it was apparent that they didn't seem to care, we called our condo association and they said they would tow them, but we didn't want it to come to that yet. Instead, multiple letters were sent to their home from the association telling them to park in their own spots and not in anyone elses otherwise they would be towed. It is majorly annoying when you come home and find that because your lot is full and your spot is taken that you have to park 2 lots over just to find a spot and not park in anyone else's assigned spot when you are supposed to be guaranteed one parking spot close to your home! And they always leave their cars there all weekend!
My husband has also in the last 2 weeks confronted 2 of the 4 people who live there--the last one (their son, probably in his mid20s) got nasty with my husband, and when he threatened to tow him, he moved his truck and told him to go ahead and tow it the next time they were parked in our parking spot.
My question (I know, this was LONG, sorry!) is: One of their 4 cars are in my parking spot again. I know the condo association will tow them no problem, but can I do this on the weekend when the association isn't open? Am I within my rights to have them towed, or do I have to have the association do this? Thanks! |
