florida
Does anybody know if there is a way to opt out of an association, I have been searching through site after site and cannot find anything about it. I own my condo and i am tired of paying money for nothing.

Yes, you can easily opt out by selling your condo...

Or you can join the board of directors, volunteer endless hours of your time, get practically no thanks, have to deal with owners that take little responsibility for their condos and field complaints instead of living the "carefree lifestyle". Paying money for nothing, I doubt that.

You are NOT "paying money for nothing". The common areas must be maintained, the association needs to maintain a reserve for replacement. If you won a unit in a condo, you woe the condo fee, epriod. Don't like the idea? Then don't buy there or sell it.

Who pays for;
the grass cutting & trimming?
garbage removal?
water?
sewer?
building insurance?
repairs in the roof?
repainting the front door?
repairs in the sidewalk?
repairs in the payment?
re-coating/repaving the driveway?
tree trimming/removal?
swimming pool maintenance?
tennis court maintenance?
exercise room?

Lastly, ask your condo associations for the treasures report and see where the money is going. There's probably a nice chunk of it going to the management company. If there are just a few condo, consider managing it yourselves and reduce your fees. Start attending the HOA meetings and familiarize yourself with everyone and the expenses of the HOA.
