Dissolve Homeowners Association

Complex built in 1975 - 155 units. Some homeowners are paying almost $600 per month in association dues - with regular annual increases, and in 10 years there have been 3 $5000 assessments for improvements. Is there any way to dissolve the Homeowners Association and become individual, independent property owners responsible for our own property?
