The HOA assigned our unit 2 parking spaces in the corner which are perpendicular to each other, not side by side. If we park our SUV in one space, another car will not fit in the other. This is an apartment rental. The lease doesn't state anything about parking spaces. There was a loose leaf sheet where they wrote in our space #s.

Well, it appears you've answered your own question then. Absent some legal contract to provide you with different spaces in the event you don't like the ones you've received, there is no common law duty to give you two spaces that fit your cars.
