HOA board

What is the name of your state? Georgia
There is a special assesment up for vote in my condo building. During the board meeting, several owners (non board memebers) voiced their concern at having the board look into different ways around this assesment. Basically the board acknowledged that they would not look at ways to prevent this assesment. My question is - if I have an idea or plan of action that I would like the board to take into consideration - how/what is the proper way to get them to listen to me? They did not seem to respond to the owners at the baord meeting.

You could join the board, donate tons of time, get no thanks, get lots of complaints....
