I live in California! :)

Hi, I was parked at an apartment complex in the red zone, and I guess a car that was parked near my car backed out and smashed the side of my car--but the person didn't leave a note--it was a hit and run.

I only parked in the red zone because watch patrol instructed me to park there because my parking space was unaccessable due to construction. Is the watch patrol liable for insisting I park in an illegal parking spot?

Thanks for any feedback!

You are liable for parking in an illegal spot and for believing that a HOA watch patrol could suspend traffic laws for you.

But in reality, it is the hit and run driver who is liable if he can ever be found. The watch guys sound pretty stupid, Check their bumpers for paint that matches yours.
