What is the name of your state?Colorado

I had a potential buyer for my vacant condo. However, when he did a second walk-through, he was concerned about doors and gates not being locked in a "secure development," disrepair of light fixtures in hallways, and furniture and garbage stored in the laundryroom (obviously had been there for quite a while). He eventually backed out of the contract. Obviously our HOA isn't doing their job -- not keeping the area secure, not keeping it clean and not keeping it repaired. I have a letter from the potential buyer telling me exactly why he decided not to buy. Do I have any legal recourse against the HOA for causing me to lose out on the sale? Thank you.

I don't think the HOA caused you to lose out on the sale. You are a member of the HOA. I would show the HOA and or management company your letter and ask why these things have not been fixed, which you should have been asking all along as a resident. However, it cost money to fix things, if your HOA does not have the money, they might do an assesment, which nobody likes either.
