Noise Problem

What is the name of your state? New Jersey

Hi,
I have a 2 1/2 year daughter. She leaves for daycare at 7-8am and returns by 6pm. the people staying downstairs says that they get disturbed by the noise. according to them my daughters makes noise (while walking ,playing) and that disturbs them.
I heard that there are some rules that normal noise is permitted during weekdays till 10pm.
I am really surprised by their complain since she sleeps by 10pm and hardly jumps or makes noise. I think they are hearing noise due to the old wooden floor since the apartment buildings are very old.
Can you please inform me about the condominium noise rules

Thanks,
Bhadresh

Purchase a set of earplugs and mail them to the neighbor. Check with your local police department to determine what decibel level is acceptable and during what hours you can feel free to make noise. These ordinances were pretty much enacted to ensure people are not awakened at 5:00AM to construction noise from the unit adjacent to yours being renovated.

You may also want to discuss this with a member of your condo assoc board to determine if there are any rules that the condo board has in the bylaws of the association that deal with noise. No one likes to be the one who's getting complained about. But if you're making reasonable efforts to curb the noise and he still complains, buy earplugs and leave them on his doorstep. That could get your point across.

Do you have carpeting/rugs/floor coverings? If not, I'd consider getting some. Heck, if the downstairs neighbor is mad enough, he might even pay for them...
