Parking spaces

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

The HOA in my condo is requiring me to place parking tags on my vehicle in order to park on the premises, including in my assigned parking space. Is this legal? My concern is that I have elderly family members that, when they come to visit, I allow them to park in my space and I move my car to the street. Im concerned that I know will be forced to make my parents and my wifes parents park on the street where there is very little, hard to find parking. They are only providing each condo with 2 tags. Is it legal for the HOA to require me to tag a car that parks in my spot?

My title states:
Parcel One (abridged)
(b) The exclusive right to possession of all those areas designated as patios and balconies and for parking purposes as shown upon the Condominium Plan referred to above

Parcel Two:
Unit ** as shown upon the Condominium Plan for Lot 2 of said Tract No. **** referred to above

Parcel Three:
Exclusive easments within the common area of the condominium plan of Lot 2 of said tract no **** referred to above or patio/balcony purposes designated as 94c and for parking purposes designated as 94p on said condominium plan of lot 2 tract ****

Get an extra tag and laminate it, then put a suction cup on it. Voila! Temporary tag for visitors!

Good morning, Zigner. The OP is getting an extra tag. He/she's being issued 2 tags. Suction cup idea is good. The tag can also be put on some sort of band and hung on the rear view window. Sometimes these HOA also dictate specific places to put the tag.

Understood - I was speaking of an additional tag (beyond the 2). As for placement...our OP will need to negotiate with the HOA

ETA: Good morning!

Okay, just checking.

And, may have to negotiate any cost for more than 2 tags.

BTW, remember them there census folks? Haven't heard from them since notifying them no one resided in condo since Wilma visited. But, me thinks someone from the census bureau came out & checked - according to next door neighbor.

The HOA has has sent out a letter that states: Every Owner Gets 2 tags - Only 2 may be used per unit. You must bring current valid registration to pick up your tags. Tags may not be taped to the windshield and may not be transferred between cars. If you have 3 vehicles then you must decide which 2 will have new tags and the 3rd will have to park on the street. We have 24 hour parking on site and I am in favor of requiring tags to park in the 24 hour spaces. I cant believe however that they are trying to force me to tag a car I am parking in my assigned space.

Is there any documentation that someone may be able to refer me to so that I can show this to them when I argue my point?

Thanks for all your help!
