What is the name of your state?
New York
I am a new townhome owner. My home was sorely neglected by the last owner. I have asked for several repairs and have not gotten a reply for many weeks or up to 2 months. My deck is the responsiblility of the HOA since it is an original. However, when I asked for just the horizontal boards to be replaced (they are cracked, spintered, twisted, etc.), I was told there were worse decks than mine. If the original decks are the HOA's responsibility, shouldn't they have monitored the deck's care during the last 20 years? The homeowners are responsible for the painting and staining. What can I do to get the repairs done on items that are the HOA's/Management Co's. responsibility???? How long should responses be?
I have been called "a problem" at one of the open board meetings. I resent this treatment just because I want my place to be safe and look nice. |

**A: maybe time to hire an attorney to write to the HOA. |

Also, my attorney tells me that no one wants to take a case against a HOA because a HOA has no money, therefore, you can't sue, etc. Does anyone know of any state agencies that I could report the HOA board and the management company to????
