Rip Off

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida

I am an owner in a condotel in FL. The Management company that owns the front desk is in arrears for almost a year now of their maintenance fees. Our board has started foreclosure on them. They also have not paid owners their share of rental monies for 7-8 months.
Can we shut off the water and gas to the laundry they use?
We owners are sick of paying for this dead horse company we want to shut them down! We pay our share they are not paying anything.
Something has got to give here.

We need help

A: Unless you have an agreement to the contrary, the short answer is no.

By the way, what is a "condotel"?

Condotel= We have 198 units here, some owners live here year around, while others only come 2-4 weeks a year. The time they are not here a management co rents out their condo for a 50% fee.
Only this outfit is not paying the owners of the condo's, or their maintenance fees, special assesment fee or anything they are snubbing their nose at us.

Angry

We are being taken to the cleaners by this outfit......they own the front desk area and laundry and pay fees just like I do on square foot area. They are not paying anything our association has filed foreclosure. I say we can shut the gas and water off to his laundry area, it is not a residence and I am sick of paying this freeloader to continue to abuse honest owners most of whom are retirees and a far distance from this property.

You sound like a serious liability (from a legal standpoint).

I'm sure that you will be posting a question (or perhaps a demand) for help defending against a lawsuit.
