Is there any way to dispute a mechanic's lien without hiring an attorney?
Our contractor estimated (verbal) that the project would be $10,000 - $15,000 which we paid. The project has not been completed (we are doing it ourselves now), workmanship was shoddy (we have pictures) and materials listed on the lien (such as shingles) were not used by the contractor on this project. According to the lien, we owe him $20,000. How can we dispute this without spending more money on an attorney?
Thanks for your help.
