What is the name of your state? TN

We completely finished our basement. We hired out licensed electrician and plumber. No permits were ever pulled. Can the county make us rip everything out? They have said we should go and get permits, which will be double, after the fact, and we should have our contractors there when they come to inspect. If we chose not to have inspections, what could happen.

thanks for the help

Are you sure these were licensed electrical and plumming contractors? It is not a wise idea to perform major work and not get permits. I suggest going to your local planning department and consult with them re this, which will require you to inform them of the names of the contractors. It is possible that in order to inspect the work that you will have to remove the sheetrock.

how would the county know???

how would the county know about what you have done. Are YOU going to tell them? That wouldnt be very smart, just enjoy and dont worry about it.
