Flooring guy botched the jobI live in California. I hired someone who lives in another state to install floors in my house. In the contract it says that he will be putting a vapor barrier between the concrete foundation and the plywood subfloor. He didn't do this. He has been paid in full for the job. What sort of recourse do I have? Do I have to sue him in his state or since the job was done here, can I sue him locally? |

| If you paid him with a credit card, you can contest. If the time limit did not run out. |

| To answer your question, you would sue him in your county's superior court. First, is he licensed here in California as a specialty contractor? Go to Contractors State License Board and check to see if he has a valid license. If he is, then he must have a bond. Send a complaint to the bonding company first and then to the CSLB. If he is not licensed, then file a complaint with the CSLB and then file a law suit against him and you will be entitled to a refund + other damages for not complying with CA statute. |
