Texas - A contractor put a lien on my house claiming I owed him money when in fact I had given him money for materiels up front and he did not finish the work. The work he did do was unsatisfactory and to boot, he dumped a whole truck load of trash in my driveway and left it there. He had an attorney draw up a demand letter and he filed a lien at the courthouse. How do I get the lein taken off? Should I take him to court in small claims court? Can he just put a lien on my house without any proof of anything? There was no contract between us except a verbal agreement and I have reciepts where I paid some of the money.
What do I need to do? Doesen't he have to show where I owe him before he can file a lien? How did he file it without a contract? Please help. |
