What is the name of your state? California. I'm a contractor that built a wall at a private residence and was not paid. I filed a mechanic's lien in Oct. '00. I just found out the property was sold on 2/26/03. I was not paid for my work and I spoke with the title company that says they didn't know about the lien and it's too late for me to collect from them. I thought they were supposed to pay me before closing. How can I collect? Clark

**A: was your lien recorded on title? Check with the title company to see what happened. Then hire an attorney. If the lien is recorded on title then have your attorney deal with the title insurance.
