Mechanics Lien-PennsylvaniaWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Pennsylvania Hi, I own my home outright, no mortgage, and recently had a cement driveway installed. The work was completed and I paid the contractor. Today I received a certified letter from the cement company informing me that they were not paid and that they will be filing a lien on my home if I do not pay them for the cement, $806.00. My question is what recourse do I have? Also, if they do file a lien what does that mean, can they can foreclose on my house or ruin my credit. I don't plan on moving so what happens if I just let this go? Thanks in advance for any advice. I would hire an attorney but that will probably cost more than the lien. ![]() Greg |

| They can't force a sale of your home for $800. Why don't you start by calling your contractor and ask why he hasn't paid for his cement.

| Thanks for the response. I have repeatedly tried to contact the contractor, however he has not responded. The guy is a real piece of work. Not only did he not pay the cement company but he completely messed up our driveway. I actually thought about taking him to court, however I thought it would be a waste of time. What a nightmare. ![]() |
