Maine, we discovered last year our septic system
needs to be replaced, but also it doesn't look like it
was legally installed. We've been waiting for the snow to
go, already discussed with a contractor on replacing the septic system, but recently we were complained to the zone code officer about a smell by the person who sold this to us
24 years ago. Can we take legal action against this person even though it's been so long? Our property is in the middle of three homes owned by this persons family members. We are currently going to put a cellar in a section of our house that was originally a shed attached to the building and found that part of the holding tank is under this, so it does have to be removed, can we go back on the owner on this? Bev.
