What is the name of your state? Massachusetts
I bought a new construction home 11 months ago. We are on a corner lot and both bordering roads are at a higher level than our foundation, so on two sides of our home the ground slopes into the foundation. A small amount of water has been leaking into the basement through a hairline crack in the wall since day one. Now there is a second leaking hairline crack as well as water seepage along the bottom foot of the basement walls along the those two sides. Since the water seepage is minimal the builder has ignored our three certified letters regarding the issue. I called the city inspector's office and he said he would look into the grading issue but he never did.
Is this seepage normal, even with a brand new house. Should the builder be responsible to remedy it? Should we bother if we plan to move in a year or two? Will the seepage make it difficult to sell the house?
Thanks!
