Water supply to house PA
We built our house 3.5 years ago through Rouse Chamberlin Homes - a local reputable builder. Upon moving in, I reported poor water pressure as an issue. They dismissed it as an issue saying that there weren't any problems. However, if we turn on the sprinkler outside, a flushed toilet will completely kill it.
Key points:
- Contacted water company 2 years ago. The pressure measured at 80 pounds, leading me to believe all was fine, because that's what everybody kept telling me.
- Contacted water company again this year. They came back out and checked the pressure. Although 80 pounds was more than sufficient, I was informed that it was a "static" reading. I have now learned that it's a flow issue and not a pressure issue.
- Water company dug into the ground to check curb stop valve. They determined that it's shifted and cannot access what they need. As a result, they have hit me with a violation, saying that it's out of compliance! To boot, upon their inspection, they have made the flow worse!
- Water company is now saying that I need to dig up the ground 3-4 feet around the curb stop so they can access the key/valve. Additionally, the problem could not be at the curb stop, but somewhere else in the line from the curb stop to my house.
Bottom line- this has been an issue since day 1. Nobody knows the root cause for sure. The water company and builder both dismissed the problem, then tried to tell me that it's the other entity's responsibility. Can I go after the builder to help rectify this, since it has been an issue since the beginning? They have a 10 year structural warranty- to me, this is structural, since it involves providing essential water to my home. |
