In 1995, we had replacement windows and doors installed in our home. We were told specifically by the salesman that this was an unsecured installment loan. That is what the papers that we signed stated. In 1999, we had to file bankruptcy, and filed against this company. We have just now found out that they placed a mortgage lien on our home and on another seperate deed. How can they legally do this, if this was an unsecured loan? We are trying to get our credit records all in the clear, so any information would be appreciated.

Thank you!
