Adding a explanation to credit reports about BK

What is the name of your state? Idaho

I claimed bancrupcty in Nov. 2005 due to the fact that I was permantly disabled from an accident in 2003 and am now in a wheelchair with a spinal cord injury. Although all my medical bills were paid I am no longer able to work and my SS disability checks were not even close to enough to pay back my debt. I lost everything I owned and am trying to get an apartment. They said the BK was ok as long as I put something on my credit reports stating the medical condition I was in that caused the BK. How do I do this? I have been on the credit reporting agency websites and can not find any info on how to do this! Is it possible? I need to do this ASAP or I will be homeless!

Thanks,

You are allowed to place a 100 word statement on your credit reports. Call the CRA's and ask how to do it.

Hi. I would do as bigun suggested. However, I might mention that although they may help, written statements are of limited value. You have no guarantee that anyone will read your statement when you apply for credit, employment, ins., etc. Many companies now use computers to review consumers' applications or to check their credit score. In these instances, your written statement will never be considered. If you, in the future, apply for credit, etc. it would be a good idea to give them a copy of your written statement that you sent to the CRA.
