after Chapt 7 question

Ohio asks if creditors can come after me a few years down the road after my Chapt 7 discharge? Someone told my husband and I to be careful what we purchase in the future, someone could try and take it. This doesn't make sense that creditors can do this. I understand that Taxes may be a different story. We live in a nosey rural area where everyone knows our business whether we like it or not and purchases could leak out to creditors in our area. Thanks for any info.
