ALMOST thereWhat is the name of your state? FL I just got my paperwork in the mail yesterday-I'm OFFICIALLY bankrupt!(Funny, not too many Hallmark cards for that) For all the advice I've gotten to date-thanks SO very much! While still not something I saw myself having to do this time last year, at least I think the worst is behind me-almost. I have a follow up to my last question. I still have my car on LITERAL borrowed time, I am planning to do a voluntary repossession-assuming I can hang onto a bit longer before it is INvoluntary! From what I have learned, some through fellow posters, 90 days seems to be the magic number, which makes sense. Here is the true QUESTION: is anyone from the south Florida area familiar with how they work around here? I really hope to hold onto the car 2 more weeks, but my 3rd missed payment would've been a week ago and every day I walk out my door thanking God my car is still there! Also, has anyone possibly had any good experiences they care to share about refinancing-much older vehicles not new-down here after dismissal? Thanks again to everyone who's advised in the past! |

| When you say you got your papers, are you saying you've gotten your Discharge or did you just recently file for BK ?

| Sorry for not being clear-I got my discharge the other day in the mail(actually, I expected more than a piece of paper that looked as if I could've printed it at home myself!). Other than the car-the soon to be gone and as yet to be known what to follow-now I just need to start over and never land here again! |

| Well, you have your discharge papers.. congrats. If there's any way for you to check your case on-line in your BK district, you need to see if the case has been officially closed. Sometimes this can take a bit of time to actually happen. Once its officially closed, the stay is lifted and the creditor is free to come get the car.
