You are better off filling the forms out yourself, how else do you know what's going into your schedules and WHY ??

FYI, some of the BK courts have taken the position that these kinds of places are promoting bankruptcy fraud, no way I'd use them !

Thanks for you reply, Ladynred.

Well, the main reason I am looking at using Bankruptcy First is because you work with a paralegal (online, by phone and email) who fills out the forms and then you also get a lawyer to go with you to your 341 meeting.

I have read on one of the emailing lists that I am on that people who file their own papers are given more scrutiny at the 341 meeting and that the discharge takes longer. So, that was why I was thinking that wasn't a great idea. And having a lawyer with me at the 341 meeting makes me feel less stressed.

Is it true that self-filers are scrutinized more? and the discharge period is longer?

SOME pro se filers are asked for more documentation, others have no more questions than if they'd had a lawyer. The time to discharge from the 341 meeting is 60 days (give or take a day or two) barring any proceedings by a Trustee - and that won't happen if your filing isn't fraudulent.

My Friend Used Bankruptcy First

I have a friend that used bankruptcy first and his filing went great compared to mine. I filed my own bankruptcy and it was dismissed because I was confused with the language used on alot of the forms and put in the information I thought it was asking for. My advise would be to hire someone that knows what they are doing. My friends case went smooth it really made me mad because he was able to get his done and filed with the court in about 2 weeks, were mine took 1 and 1/2 months.
